CLAT 2027: Your Last-Month Plan (Exam on 6 December)
Updated 2 November 2026 by the faculty of Mentors Law Entrance Coaching Centre, Ernakulam. Rules can change every year – confirm in the official notification at consortiumofnlus.ac.in.
CLAT 2027 is on Sunday, 6 December 2026, from 2 pm to 4 pm – a pen-and-paper test of 120 questions with +1 for a correct answer and −0.25 for a wrong one. The admit card is expected around the fourth week of November on consortiumofnlus.ac.in. With about a month to go, new topics matter less than accuracy, speed and revision.
The paper at a glance
| Section | Approx. questions |
|---|---|
| English Language | 22–26 |
| Current Affairs including GK | 28–32 |
| Legal Reasoning | 28–32 |
| Logical Reasoning | 22–26 |
| Quantitative Techniques | 10–14 |
Every section is passage-based, so reading speed is the common skill.
Week by week
| Week | What to do |
|---|---|
| Week 1 (now) | Three full mocks at 2 pm, the actual exam time. After each, spend at least as long analysing as writing: list every wrong answer by type (misread, wrong inference, guess, silly error). |
| Week 2 | Fix the top two error types. Revise current affairs from the last 12 months – one month per day – focusing on events likely to become passages: judgments, appointments, international events, schemes. |
| Week 3 | Mocks on alternate days. Practise your section order and time split, for example: Legal → Current Affairs → English → Logical → Quant. Drop any question type that keeps costing you marks. |
| Last 4–5 days | One light mock, then revise your notes and error log only. Sleep on time – the exam is in the afternoon, so keep your 2–4 pm brain fresh. |
Negative marking in CLAT
With +1/−0.25, a pure guess among four options averages 0 marks (¼ × 1 − ¾ × 0.25 ≈ 0.06). Eliminating even one option makes guessing worthwhile (⅓ × 1 − ⅔ × 0.25 ≈ +0.17). So answer whenever you can rule out one option – but don't fill the sheet blindly.
Exam-day checklist
- Printed admit card and an original government photo ID
- Reach the centre early – check the reporting time printed on the admit card
- Blue/black ballpoint pens; follow the centre's rules on what you may carry
- Fill the OMR bubbles carefully – mark answers as you go, not all at the end
After CLAT, keep going: AILET is on 13 December and SLAT on 19 and 26 December – see the law entrance calendar. KLEE and CUSAT CAT follow in May–June.
